Court Case: - IN DELHI HIGH COURT

The Delhi High Court heard the petition on 19-9-2005 filed by Matu Peoples’ Organisation and others Vs Union of India and ors. The Additional Solicitor General of India appearing for the Union of India asked for four weeks time. However, the Chief Justice remarked that why so much time in view of the rather limited number of issues. The Court also wanted to know as to why the whole Authority was vacant and further why the authority does not consider the applications on merit.

The Additional Solicitor General of India remarked that pending issues concerning dams in the Courts adversely impact foreign investments and credibility of the State.

The Counsel Adv. Ritwik Dutta for the petitioner stated that an additional affidavit has been filed bringing to light the working of the Appellate Authority and the fact that even technical member were not appointed.

The MOEF was directed to file its reply within one week. The matter has now being listed for 29th of September.
