Proposed National Environment Tribunal bill
will be place in the parliament by August, 2007
Case:- Vimalbhai Vs. Union of India
Issue:-Non-constitute the National Environment Applet Authority {NEAA}
Today, Delhi High Court heard the case. The counsel for the MOEF state that this petition should be heard along with the matter concerning the consultation of National Environment Tribunal filed by the Bishwajit Mohanti of Wild Life Society of Orrissa
It was further inform that the discussion on the proposed Environment Tribunal is being held by the secretary of Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha and this should be ready by August 2007. Adv. Ritiwik Dutta from LIFE was standing from the petitioner’s side.
Now the matter is listed on 8th August.
This is very much amazing that an order given on 29th September, 2005 to constitute the NEAA with in 45 days and still Govt. is not complied with. And on other side Delhi Court is not taking any hard step against this. When in the last hearing, dated 7-2-2007, same Hon’ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice M. Sharma himself says that this matter is related with welfare of the people.
As the MoEF is clearing project after project and people’s have no appropriate forum or authority to get their grievances redress, they will be left with no other option then to revolt as happened in NANDIGRAM?
Development for all, not only for few.
Vimalbhai
